World Tea Cosy Competition
Who would have thought it would be Miles?
This is just in from the Craft Victoria newsletter;
"The tea cosy capital of the world, Miles (QLD) is again seeking the world's best tea cosy. There are three categories - Nostalgic, Modern and Anything Goes - with the winner of each category receiving $200 plus an extra $300 to the overall winner. The 2006 tea cosies will be displayed in the Teys Art Gallery at the acclaimed Dogwood Crossing @ Miles and will be available for sale with proceeds supporting arts activities in the region. There is no entry fee, no entry form and tea cosies will not be returned. Entries close on 25 August 2005 with the winner to be announced during the first week of September."

fun, not just for kids
Second prize: Emily from Erasmus Primary School – Hawthorn
Third prize: Brodie from Pleasant Street Primary School – Ballarat
Never mind about the PS1/Moma Young Architects awards. Take a look at the finalists from this years ABC and Fun 4 Kids Children's Art Awards! The awards are a joint initiative between the ABC and the Warrnambool City Council’s Fun 4 Kids Festival and have been established to recognise and reward the artistic excellence of Victorian school children in Years 3-6 in the disciplines of painting and drawing. Cool!

book
book is a project undertaken by four artists, two in Brooklyn and two in Belfast. Every Wednesday an artist recieved the book and would be required to complete a piece and mail it on by the following Monday, giving them 5 days. The book was the only contact the artists had with one another over a 36 week period. You can view the results here.
mmmmmm, it's great food for thought. maybe we could start something like this with textiles? Ideas are welcome, drop us a line in the comments field......and I'll keep on brianstorming.

From 2 - 6 August the Melbourne Art Fair 2006 features over 80 national and international galleries from Australia, New Zealand, South Korea, Japan, China, Germany and the Netherlands. It is a not for profit organization established to promote contemporary art and ethical representation of living artists. monster children
For those of you out there who are old enough to remember playing on a commodore 64, take a look at this. It's from those clever Sydney-siders who bring us monster cildren. Their website is coming, so keep an eye out for it. In the meantime you can get a copy of their magazine from your newsagent.
